Just three days after Andrew Tate went viral for calling out Jews as being "The Matrix" on a X (Twitter Space) hosted by Candace Owens, masked police officers in Romania conducted new raids early Wednesday at the residence of controversial internet influencer Andrew Tate, who is currently awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, announced that they were searching four properties in Bucharest and nearby Ilfov County as part of an investigation into allegations of human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements, and money laundering. The agency also stated that hearings would be held later at its headquarters.
In response to the raids, Tate’s spokesperson, Mateea Petrescu, acknowledged that while the charges in the search warrant are not yet fully clear, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering. Petrescu did not comment on the allegations involving minors but noted that Tate’s legal team is involved.
Dozens of police officers and forensic experts were thoroughly searching Tate’s expansive property on the outskirts of Bucharest. DIICOT emphasized in its statement that "throughout the entire criminal process, the individuals under investigation are afforded the procedural rights and protections outlined in the Code of Criminal Procedure, including the presumption of innocence."
